Christine Edmaier (Architektenkammer Berlin)
Christophe Knoch (Sprecher Freie Szene Berlin)
Matthias Einhoff (Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik, Berlin)

City and culture

Culture as urban quality of life – cultural buildings, high culture and scene
The city as a place to live and a social product thrives on renowned cultural institutions as much as on its lively scene. The quality of new cultural buildings and the preservation of existing institutions are just as essential for this as the promotion of diverse initiatives, cultural spaces and temporary structures. Central to the discussion were questions about the function of diversity and quality of cultural offerings and approaches without competition between so-called high culture and off-culture – between cultural buildings, art in construction, the scene and the cultural industry.

Discussed:
Tim Renner (State Secretary for Cultural Affairs of Berlin)
Annemarie Jaeggi (Bauhaus Archive / Museum of Design Berlin)
Christine Edmaier (Berlin Chamber of Architects)
Christophe Knoch (Speaker Free Scene Berlin)
Matthias Einhoff (Center for Art and Urbanism, Berlin)
